Miriam Goldner Stevens of Greenwich, CT passed away peacefully on December 19, 2018 surrounded by family members. Born on March 26, 1928 in New York, NY, she was the daughter of Aaron “Harry” Goldner and Laura “Tootsie” Kirshner.
After graduating from Hunter High School in 1945, she attended Adelphi University, Class of ’49, graduating with a BS in Nursing. Miriam served as a registered nurse until 1951 after which she became a fulltime homemaker.
Miriam volunteered in the cancer unit at Greenwich Hospital and at the Byram Shubert Library. Her interests included boating and a love of cruising, traveling to every continent. Active for many years in the United States Power Squadrons, she earned the grade of Senior Navigator (SN).
She married Stanley Stevens on May 6, 1951, who predeceased her in 1986.
Together they raised their three children: Roger Stevens (Nina) of Greenwich, CT, Sari Lafferty (Marty) of Chester, MD, and Paul Stevens (Barbara) of Greenwich, CT.
Miriam is also survived by her brother Stanley Goldner (Joan) of New Brunswick, NJ; five grandchildren: Alana Lafferty (Erez Amit) of Andover, MA, David Lafferty (Emily) of Epping, NH, Alexis Sedman (Dan) of Westbury, NY, Matthew Stevens of Greenwich, CT, and Melissa Stevens of Greenwich, CT; and a great grandchild Ada Lafferty of Epping, NH.
Interment was at Cedar Park Cemetery, Paramus, NJ on Friday December 21, 2018. Shiva will be on Sunday December 23 at the home of Paul & Barbara Stevens in Greenwich, CT from 4 PM to 8 PM.
