
Obituary of Joan C Delz

Joan C. Delz passed away peacefully on March 25, 2016 in Mamaroneck, New York after a brief illness. She was born in New York City to Babet and John Breitenbach, and is a graduate of Mt. Saint Ursula Academy in the Bronx and College of New Rochelle. Before becoming a loving homemaker, Joan taught at St Joseph’s School in Bronxville and was a laboratory technician. Joan was a lifelong resident of Rye, New York, parishioner at Church of the Resurrection and former member of Westchester Country Club, where she was an avid bridge player. She had been an active member of the mothers’ clubs at Resurrection School and School of the Holy Child. Joan also earned her Paralegal Certification and spent time serving as an Ombudswoman.
Joan’s family was the love of her life. She is survived by her daughter Nicole Lynch and son-in-law Edward Lynch of New Rochelle, and seven grandchildren; Phoebe, Jamie and Mackenzie Lynch of New Rochelle, Teddy Hissey and his wife Krista Huber Hissey of Atlanta, Georgia, Tyler Hissey and Sara Hissey of Boston, Massachusetts and Brittany Hissey of Fairfield, Connecticut, and one great grandchild, Charlotte Hissey of Atlanta. She is also survived by her sister Bettyanne Acker of Packanack Lake, NJ, and many cousins, nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews, in addition to many compassionate caretakers. Joan was predeceased by her husband William R. Delz and daughter Pamela Delz Hissey.
Visitation will be at Graham Funeral Home in Rye, NY on March 28th from 7-9PM, followed by a funeral mass at Church of the Resurrection in Rye, NY on March 29th at 10AM. In lieu of flowers, Joan would be grateful for donations to a charity that she and Bill made a lifetime commitment to supporting, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
