
Obituary of Kathleen Dunn
Kathleen “Kathy” Nolan Dunn passed away surrounded by her family at her home on August 13, 2021. Born in New York City she was the daughter of Edward A. and Catherine Aughavin Nolan. After graduating from Resurrection Academy Class of 1966, she went on to Rosemont College majoring in Mathematics, Class of 1970 and Iona College where she graduated with her MBA in 1973. Upon graduation from college Kathy embarked on a 31-year career in the telecommunications industry starting as a computer programmer at AT&T and retiring as a project manager at Avaya.
She married John “Jack” Dunn on June 17, 1978. Their 40-year marriage ended with Jack’s passing on September 27, 2018. Kathy is survived by her son John Nolan Dunn and daughter-in-law Heather Connor Dunn of Queens, her beloved granddaughter Maisie Caitlin Dunn, brothers Edward P. Nolan of Ossining, NY and Denis A. Nolan of Pittsfield, MA and sister Mary Nolan McElroy of White Plains, NY. She was predeceased by her sister Christine Nolan.
Kathy loved her family and the water more than anything. She was a devoted daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, and aunt. Kathy was selfless in her involvement with many of her son’s activities throughout his school years and always willing to assist any family member falling behind in math. Her love of the water and swimming began as a child with many summer days spent at Harbor Island Beach in Mamaroneck. Kathy was an active swimmer throughout her life and spent many vacations at the beach in her retirement.
The family will receive friends at the Graham Funeral Home, 1036 Boston Post Road, Rye, NY on Tuesday August 17, 2021, from 3 PM to 7 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the Church of the Resurrection on Wednesday August 18, 2021, at 10 AM. The mass will be livestreamed for those who are unable to attend in person.
