
Obituary of Lela Negri
Lela K. Negri, a Rye resident for over 53 years, passed away on October 16, 2021 at the age of 87. Lela was born in Bennington, VT on August 18, 1934 to Patrick and Marian Keough (nee Shea). She graduated from Gardner High School and went on to graduate from The College of New Rochelle earning a Bachelor of Art degree. Later Lela attended the NYU Graduate School of Business where she earned her MBA.
Lela worked as a Manager of Business Planning at IBM Corporation. Later she was dedicated to community service. Lela was a treasurer of Meals on Wheels, a Board Member of the League of Women Voters, a College of New Rochelle Alumnae Fund Committee member, and a member of both the Rye Historical Society and the Rye Conservation Society. Lela was a devoted parishioner of the Church of the Resurrection in Rye.
Lela is predeceased by her husband Michael P. Negri who passed away on June 25, 2000. She is survived by her son Michael P. Negri and Daughter in Law Pamela Negri; Grandchildren: Meredith G. Negri, M. Dylan Negri, and Olivia R. Negri; Sister: Janet Asselin and Brother-in-law Raymond Asselin Sr.; Niece and Nephews: James W. Asselin, Raymond B. Asselin Jr., Joseph P. Asselin, Maria Serrazina, and Christopher Asselin; Great Nieces and Nephews: Timothy, Elizabeth, James Jr., Joseph Jr., Patrick, Cassandra, Daniel, Alexander, Nikolas, Janet, and Jacqueline; and Great, Great Niece Ellison.
The family will receive friends at the Graham Funeral Home on Monday October 25, 2021 from 4:00-7:00 PM. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Tuesday October 26, 2021 at 10:00 AM. The mass will be livestreamed for those who are unable to attend in person. To view the livestream please click here. The interment will be private. Flowers maybe sent to Graham Funeral Home and or a donation may be made to the Church of the Resurrection in Rye, NY in Lela’s honor.
