
Obituary of Br. Jake Binkley CFC
Brother Jake Michael Binkley CFC passed away on October 21, 2021 at the age of 84. Brother Binkley was born on May 16, 1937, in Norfolk, VA, the son of Jake L. and Margaret Etheridge Binkley. Brother attended Norfolk Catholic High School and entered Iona College where he received a BA Degree in English, an MA from Seton Hall University and an MS in Education from Fordham University.
Brother Binkley entered the Congregation of Christian Brothers on July 2, 1956 and professed his final vows on June 27, 1963.
Brother’s ministry took him to several schools including All Hallows Institute, Essex Catholic High School, Newark, Power Memorial Academy, Catholic Memorial High School, Boston, Bishop Kearney High School, Rochester, and Bishop Hendricken High School, Rhode Island. Brother served as Principal of Power Memorial from 1978-1984 and was also the community leader at Bishop Hendricken.
Brother was predeceased by his parents Jake and Margaret and by his two brothers, William and Joseph.
The family and the Christian Brothers will receive friends at the Graham Funeral Home on Tuesday October 26, from 2 PM to 4 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Holy Family Church, New Rochelle, NY, on Wednesday October 27, 2021 at 9:30 AM. Interment will be at the Christian Brothers' Cemetery in West Park, NY. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Br.
