Rita T. Corcoran passed away after a brief illness on April 12, 2022. She was 92 years of age. Rita was born to James and Mary Ellen (Lyons) McGreevy in the Bronx, NY. While attending a high school dance, she met the love of her life, James Corcoran. They were married in September 1950. Over the years, they resided in upstate New York and Dumont, NJ before finally settling in Westchester County. Rita was a long-time employee of United Hospital, where she managed the employee health department before her retirement.
Rita is survived by her children, David (Candyce) Corcoran, Stephen (Xi Jin) Corcoran and Susan (Timothy) Sullivan. In addition, she leaves behind her adored Grandchildren, Adam, Caitlin, Andrew, Kyle, Sabrina and Amanda, and her Great-Grandchildren, Alexis, Austin, Chase, Ava, Tyler, and Lucas. Several nieces and nephews mourn her loss as do many friends, including her long-time neighbor, David Long and her dedicated care-workers, Michelle Smith and Nordeseyah Edwards.
Rita was known for her crocheting of scarves and throws and generously gifted them to family and friends. She was an avid walker enjoying long strolls along the Rye Beach Pier and rooted for her favorite teams, the NY Yankees and Football Giants. She was a member of Our Lady of Mercy Church in Portchester for many years and later became a member of The Resurrection Church in Rye. She had a tenacious spirit for life and an abiding faith in her Lord, Jesus Christ.
Rita was predeceased by her loving husband: James in 1979, granddaughter, Pamela Megan Corcoran, 1983 and her four siblings, James and William McGreevy, Mary (Sis) Reid and Margaret (Peggy) Hogan.
