Obituary of Patricia Anne Fallon
Patricia Anne Fallon of Goldens Bridge passed away peacefully in her sleep on March 23, 2023 at the age of 85. She was born in New York City on January 20, 1938 to Charles Austin Kelly and Anne (Roney) Kelly. Her father Charles was the President of Austin & Merritt Real Estate and Insurance Company in Port Chester, NY. Pat was a native of The Town of Rye, NY and graduated from The Ursuline School in New Rochelle. Upon graduation, Pat attended Salve Regina College in Newport, RI. She then went on to marry her best friend, William A. Fallon, a native of Port Chester whom she met at dance school at age 12. They celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary last September. After several moves, including Pontefract, England, Pat and Bill eventually settled in Armonk, NY where they raised their four children. Many have wonderful memories of Pat from her 35 year retail career. She started at Best and Co. in Newton, MA and later served as the manager of Lady Budd, a women’s apparel store in Scarsdale, NY. She then moved into lighting, first as the showroom manager at Powell Supply in Haverhill, MA and then at Klaffs in Norwalk, CT.
Pat was an exceptional athlete and an avid sports fan. For many years Pat was in regular attendance at the US Open, NY Mets and NY Giants games. As an athlete, Pat achieved great success on the tennis and platform tennis courts. After spending her youth at Westchester Country Club, Pat was a long time member of The Coveleigh Club in Rye, NY, where she and Bill developed many of their most cherished friendships. She was an early member of the MITL, an interclub women’s tennis league that recently recognized Pat with a lifetime achievement award. At Coveleigh, Pat won 27 Club Championships, including an unprecedented 24 Women’s Doubles Titles - a feat she accomplished with 4 different partners. On the Platform Tennis Court, Pat rose to national prominence on the Professional Tour, earning a top 10 ranking with her longtime partner, Lassie Ford. As the sport was gaining popularity in the 1970’s, Pat served as a Pro at several NY area clubs. Pat returned to competitive paddle in the early 2000’s and reached the finals of the Women’s National Championship - 70 and over Division.
Despite all of her accomplishments on and off the courts, Pat’s true joy was spending time with her 13 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. She cherished every moment with them and was a bright spot in each of their lives. Her favorite day of the year was Christmas Eve.
Pat is survived by her husband, William A Fallon, her sister Maureen Winter (John) Port St. Lucie, FL, children Lorrie Egan (Jack) Somers, NY, Bill Fallon (Lisa) Rye NY, Larry Fallon (Colleen) Hampton Falls, NH, Robin O’Brien (Andy) Armonk, NY, five nieces and nephews, 13 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.
Family will receive friends from 4-7 PM at Graham Funeral Home Rye, NY on Thursday March 30th. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:30AM Friday March 31st at Our Lady of Mercy, 260 Westchester Avenue Port Chester, NY.
